False Alarm

Wow…  Long night tonight…   Yes, it’s 5:13am..  And NO I wasn’t up playing poker, watching Team America, or even playing Madden…

Tonight I went over to Bethany’s to watch a movie (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure – CLASSIC!), then went home at 1:30am…  So I’m sitting at home catching up on some Law & Order on the Tivo when I got a call at 2am from my friend Sam…  It turns out that she was cramping really bad and almost felt like she was having contractions, so I drove over to get her and we went to the ER (more specifically the birthing center through the ER).

I knew that I was going to go put there with her, but I thought there was a little waiting room that you’d go into, but they had me go right into the room with her – so that was something I didn’t expect.

Sam was a real trooper the whole time…  It turns out that it’s a false alarm (more or less).  She was pretty dehydrated, which is why she had so much cramping and pain.  The docs needed to be thorough so we were in there for a good 3 hours…   I’m glad she’s doing well and that the baby’s looking really good.  She’s at 34 weeks now, so it’s only a matter of time.

So now I’m going to get some sleep…  This is officially my last night as Sam’s "labor on-call person"..  Things got a little rough for her up here, so she’s moving back to Lafayette to be with her mom.  I think ultimately it’s the right thing for her, and the right thing for the baby..  While I was relieved to not have this great weight on my shoulders, part of me is sad that I won’t get to see the excitement of a new life entering this world…

Bed-time…
