Mile High Music Festival Greetings

Hello from Commerce City, Colorado (which is pretty much Denver)!  I’m back at the hotel after Day 1 of the Mile High Music Festival.  I’m a bit zapped from being out in the sun all day, but I wanted to offer a few random thoughts from the festival:

  • Holy crap! You can bring lawn chairs in? I am so glad that we packed them, they were awesome today!
  • There was absolutely no tailgating possible, or at least by the time we got there (3pm) everyone had cleared out
  • The beer attendants weren’t doing that great of a job checking ID’s initially, but they must have gotten the memo later in the evening.
  • O.A.R. rules, so does Michael Franti & Spearhead
  • Tom Petty was really cool, but I was ready to go home early
  • Commerce City has a lot to learn about running a festival & traffic control, because of them our taxi cab fare tripled.
  • The Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is a very nice venue. They opened up the inside of the stadium and it turned out to be the best kept secret of the whole Festival. We had access to working bathrooms and nice shade.
  • $8 for a beer? You’ve got to be kidding

I was hoping to post a few pictures, but my camera card reader is in the car. Hopefully I can post some before I go back tomorrow.  Sunday I get to see Flogging Molly, the Flobots, The Roots & Dave Matthews Band!

Birthday & Independence Day Pics!

I’m sorry I didn’t get around to posting these before!  I had an amazing 3-day weekend, which started off early on Thursday with my 27th birthday!

Bethany managed to keep my birthday surprise up to the last minute, and revealed that she got us a couples massage at a spa. I never received a professional massage before, and it was truly an amazing experience.  We were both worries that nerves would get the better of me, but I managed to relax and get the most out of the massage.

Afterwards we met up with my family and had martinis at Eliot’s in downtown Fort Collins, then walked over to meet up with Bethany’s family at the Melting Pot for Cheese & Dessert. We had a blast at both places, I had an amazing birthday!

Here are pictures to share – you can also view them at your own pace.

On Friday our families went down to enjoy the 4th at the Rockies Game.  We gathered materials for tailgating/picnic beforehand at a park, then walked over to the stadium to watch a shoot-out between the Rockies and Marlines – with the Rockies winning!  The night was completed with some amazing fireworks!

(Hopefully) Re-opening the blog fire-hydrant

I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus over the last few weeks.  I didn’t intend for it to happen, but with as busy as June was, that’s the way things turned out.  It’s funny, when you fall out of practice with blogging, there seems to be an subtle intimidation factor in coming back.  Over the last week or so I meant to post on here, and even had some "that would be clever" thoughts, but I let procrastination get the better of me.

Hopefully this will be the post that re-opens the fire hydrant – jumping that first hurdle.

And now that I’ve used over a hundred words to basically say nothing, I’m going to go to bed and let tomorrow be a new blogging day.  Thanks for being patient with me and your continued curiosity in my happenings!

Off to Durango

Bethany and I are hitting the road this weekend, heading to Durango for our Engagement Party.  Durango is Bethany’s old stomping grounds.  We managed to get some good cheap flights, so instead of driving all night, we’re just flying down in the early morning.  We’re very excited because we’ll be able to stay longer on Sunday.  See you in Durango!
