I did it!

After 31 days of blogging I took a break yesterday, but I wanted to commemorate my small achievement in completing NaBloWriMo.  As I posted a month ago, I was going to attempt to blog at least once per day for the next month, and 37 posts later I made it!

I’m not going to lie: at the start of the month, it was a real chore to start blogging.  There were nights when I sitting in bed next to my sleeping wife as I was typing away, anxious to hit “Post” before 12am.  It was about the end of week 2 I finally caught my second wind and it became easier to block out time to blog.

Not all of my posts were must-reads, but some of my favorite ones over the month included:

I’ve really appreciated the experience, and hope that this will continue to ignite that blogging spark that I found when I started this blog back in May of 2005. Thank you for all of your support be reading my blog, and I hope that this was as fun for you as it was for me.

Snow day!

DSC00239

For those of you outside Colorado, you may have heard that we are getting quite the snow storm.  Late yesterday afternoon it started raining, which quickly turned to snow as the night progressed.  Both Bethany and I drove separately from Denver to Fort Collins and dealt with the horrible road conditions.  We woke up this morning with a robo-call for Bethany that told her the Fort Collins schools were closed. We were doing a chili cook-off at work, so I still drove into work.  My chili was a hit at the sparsely-attended event, but was still a lot of fun.

I had no doubt that it would snow this week, as Greenfoot has a show tomorrow night.  It seems like we’ve had crappy weather for the last 3-4 shows that we’ve played.  I’m holding out hope that the snow will taper off early enough tomorrow to encourage people to come out to the show.

For those of you in Northern Colorado, I hope that you’re safe and warm tonight (and have nowhere to go).

New Greenfoot Gig Posters

Today I put the finishing touches on the new gig posters for our Greenfoot show coming up next week at Chipper’s Lanes.  This is our second time playing at the bowling ally, and with as much fun as we had last time, we’re really looking forward to it.  I also had a lot of fun putting together the gig poster from last time, so I used a lot of elements from the previous poster to create these new posters and made a series of them:

Aside from the obvious changes of the text, I made some minor changes to the foot on the bowling ball, trying to make it look more realistic.  I also added a slight curve to the our URL and add the depth to it.  I then focused my attention on the images of each of us and imposing them onto the lanes.  I would be anxious to hear any thoughts or feedback that you may have.

Also if you’re in Fort Collins and are free on Thurdsay, Oct 29, come out and check us out at Chippers Lanes!
